ANGLING
Kelso has some of the finest fishing in Scotland, with the Tweed
and Teviot meeting here. Locals and visitors can fish for salmon
and trout, with very moderately priced permits available from the
local fishing tackle shops.

BOWLING
The Kelso Bowling Club, the oldest in Scotland, is situated in Bowmont
Street.

CHILDREN
Abbey Soft Play is situated in the Knows car park, The facility
allows children under 8 years to burn off some energy in a safe
environment, somewhere they can be stimulated by the special effects
lighting, in the snoozelen area, or simply go wild in the ball pool
and soft play area. Parents can enjoy a coffee while their children
are playing or they can play too if they wish.
Abbey Soft Play is run by Parent to Parent(Kelso) Scottish charity
No. SC029359 and is a self funded project which relies on the community
it serves and their generosity to maintain itself.
The Play Area is manned by volunteers and is open from 9.30am -
4.30pm mon - fri and from 9.30 - 12 Sat, it has easy access with

CRICKET
The Kelso Cricket team are past winners of the Border League and
they play at Sheddon Park
CURLING, SKATING & SKITTLES
The only Ice Rink in the Borders is in Kelso. Public Skating sessions
take place every Sunday afternoon and Evening between September
and March, with the Skittle Alley and Public Bar next door.

FOOTBALL
Kelso has three senior teams competing at different levels. Kelso
United play in the East of Scotland League at Springwood Park whereas
Kelso Thistle and Kelso Amateurs both play in the Border League
at Woodside Park. During the season there is a very popular mini
football section for the kids.

GOLF
Kelso has it's very own 18-hole golf course at Berrymoss. It's open
all year round and visitors are always welcome. We also have a championship
course, two miles from the town centre, called the Roxburghe. It
is owned by the Duke of Roxburghe and is reputed to be one of the
finest courses in Britain.

HOCKEY
The Ladies Hockey team play at Sheddon Park and compete in the Border
League and Knock-Out Competitions. They are always keen to see new
faces and open their doors to anyone interested in having a go.
HORSE RACING
Kelso has a well established race course at Berrymoss. It has a
National Hunt course and is known as the 'friendliest course in
Britain'. It also has first class facilities for the public and
the staff there do a great job to ensure that everyone who visits
has a great day out.

HORSE RIDING
It goes without saying that Horse Riding is very popular in the
Borders and during the summer there is probably more Horse Riding
at the Borders Festivals than anywhere else in the country. Nenthorn

PUTTING
There is a fine 18-hole putting green in Sheddon Park, open during
the summer.
RUGBY
By far the most popular sport in the Borders is Rugby Football.
Poynder Park is the home of Kelso Rugby Club and is one of the finest
grounds in Scotland. There is also a very strong mini rugby section
who train at Poynder Park on Sunday mornings.

SKATING & SKITTLES
Both are available at the Borders Ice Rink during the winter months
SWIMMING
There is an excellent indoor swimming pool at Inch Road with great
facilities.

There is a private club at Poynder Park where visitors can play
on the all weather courts with coaching available for youths.
